Cumulus® Linux Administration
Interactive self-paced learning
$100 single course I $250 as part of Platinum membership
Course Duration 6 Hours
This course equips network and system professionals with the practical skills needed to deploy, operate, and manage Cumulus Linux-based data center networks. The participants will learn to configure switches, VLANs, routing protocols, and advanced virtualization features such as VXLAN and EVPN.
We will start with the basics of Cumulus Linux, its architecture, and the tools used to configure and manage it. From there, we will learn core Layer 2 features such as VLANs, trunking, STP, bonds and MLAG, followed by Layer 3 features like SVIs, VRR and VFR. The course then explores how BGP, VXLAN and EVPN support large, modern data centers.
Introduction to Cumulus Linux
• The NVIDIA networking ecosystem; Cumulus Linux architecture and deployment.
• Configuration tools: CLI commands, NVUE workflows, REST API, and automation with Ansible.
• Initial setup, licensing, and Zero Touch provisioning
• Configuring and troubleshooting network interfaces.
Layer 2 Feature:
• VLANs, Trunks, Spanning Tree Protocol.
• Link Aggregation & High Availability using bonds and MLAG.
Routing Essentials:
• Default gateway redundancy, SVIs, VRR and VRF.
• BGP concepts, BGP in the data center & BGP unnumbered.
Network virtualization:
• VXLAN tunneling
• EVPN control planes: controller-less VXLAN, L2/L3 EVPN, symmetric/asymmetric routing models
• Monitoring and troubleshooting VXLAN and EVPN deployments
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
• Install, configure, and manage Cumulus Linux environments.
• Automate network tasks using REST API, NVUE, and tools like Ansible.
• Configure and manage switch functions, including bridging, VLANs, bonds, MLAG.
• Implement and troubleshoot advanced features such as BGP, VXLAN, and EVPN
Designed for Network and System Administrators, DevOps Engineers, Solution Architects, and Infrastructure Engineers seeking advanced skills in Cumulus Linux deployment and management.
• Experienced network engineers/technicians
• Experience with Linux
