Exam administration policies
Examination security
NVIDIA is committed to ensuring that its certification exams are respected and valued in the marketplace. Accordingly, NVIDIA takes appropriate measures to ensure that the integrity of its exams are not compromised and also holds NVIDIA Authorized Testing Partners (NATPs) accountable for taking appropriate steps to prevent and detect fraud and exam security breaches.
NVIDIA conducts periodic data forensics to identify patterns of aberrance in exam results that help detect cheating or content theft. For example, forensic indicators such as types of responses, latency, pass rates, and retakes may reveal patterns of cheating, collusion, or theft. However, prevention and early detection are critical elements that require the close cooperation of its NATPs.
Therefore, in addition to relying on its NATPs to provide industry standard monitoring during testing, NVIDIA requires its NATPs to ensure an appropriate physical or virtual testing environment, and that administrators and proctors are sufficiently trained to provide good quality oversight of testing.
Administrators and proctors who observe violations of rules, or suspect a testing security breach, will immediately contact NVIDIA
Physical or Virtual testing environments
- NATPs will confirm that: the testing area is a professional environment where Test Candidates may take the exam without interruptions and each test may be proctored with an unobstructed view of each Test Candidate in the testing area. Acceptable methods of proctoring include:
- Camera/video display - The proctor may remotely monitor the Test Candidate via a camera with access to a complete view of the testing environment.
- Observation window - The proctor may monitor the Test Candidate through an observation window with a complete view of the testing environment.
- In-Room proctoring - The proctor is located in the same room with the Test Candidate. This is typically the preferred method for larger groups of classroom testing.
- The NATP will verify the Test Candidate’s identity with at least one form of valid government issued identification (containing both a photograph and the Test Candidate’s signature).
- The NATP/Proctor will not allow recording or electronic devices in the testing area. Such devices include: wrist watches, cameras, computers, and cell phones. Additional Test Candidate property, such as books or bags, must be stored outside the testing environment or inaccessible during the exam.
- The NATP/Proctor may permit a Test Candidate to take a break during testing if requested, but the testing clock cannot be stopped during the break. Test Candidates are not permitted to conduct activities during a break that may compromise exam security - including use of a telephone and/or communicating with other Test Candidates. Breaks are not permitted for remotely proctored exams.
- The Proctor will confirm that the Test Candidate’s ID matches the NVIDIA account information on the Proctor Validation Screen prior to launching the exam.
- Proctors may answer questions regarding the functionality of the exam software, but may not answer questions or provide instructions related to exam content.
- If a candidate does not achieve a passing score on an exam in the first attempt, the candidate may purchase the exam again. There will be a 72 hour period before the exam can be rescheduled.
- If a candidate does not achieve a passing score in the second attempt, the candidate must wait at least 14 days before retaking the exam a third time.
- A 14-day waiting period is also imposed for the 4th and subsequent exam retakes. A candidate may not take a given exam any more than five times per year (12 months). This 12-month period starts the day of the purchase of the first exam. The candidate is then eligible to retake the exam 12 months from that date. To take a given exam more than five times per year or to have the time between attempts waived, a candidate must submit a request and obtain prior permission from NVIDIA. Requests should be sent to educert@nvidia.com. These requests should include the following information:
- Candidate Name
- Candidate Email
- Candidate Exam Name
- NVIDIA will not issue refunds for exams that are missed by candidates. Candidates may reschedule their exams to accommodate issues with their availability.
- You will need to complete certain system checks, if applicable, and an examination appointment check-in with the Testing Delivery Partner. Prior to commencement of the examination session, the Testing Delivery Partner will verify your identity using a method chosen by NVIDIA. You will not be permitted to take the examination if you are unable to pass the identity verification process.
- If you choose to take an examination online remotely, you will need to install a browser extension provided by the Testing Delivery Partner so that the proctor is able to communicate with you, monitor and record your examination session, and ensure that you are not able to use your computer, other devices, or materials to violate the examination rules, such as by consulting other resources for examination answers or harvesting examination content. This will involve monitoring you and your computer in real time throughout the examination session such that your face, desk, workspace, and voice will be recorded for examination security and test integrity purposes. You will be monitored and recorded at your location by video, audio, and other technological means such that all activity at your location will be visible to the proctor. The Testing Delivery Partner will process your Personal Data including personal details provided (such as name and email address), qualifications, education, assessment details, any data captured during the examination session, including identification, monitoring data, answers to examination questions, results of the examination, and records of technical support. At the end of the examination (following final review and confirmed submission), to stop recording you must disconnect from the Testing Delivery Partner’s browser plug-in and the browser itself.
- In the event any conduct is detected during the examination session that is contrary to the terms and conditions of this Agreement, you understand and agree that the examination may be paused or terminated without refund and that a report will be provided to NVIDIA. The Testing Delivery Partner will share the results of your examination including Personal Data with NVIDIA.
- Accuracy and Integrity of Examination Process. Following completion of your examination, NVIDIA and/or the Testing Delivery Partner may review your examination record for scoring accuracy, for evidence of possible misconduct, and for response patterns that may suggest your scores do not represent a valid measure of your knowledge or competence as sampled by the examination (“Measurement Error”). NVIDIA reserves the right to invalidate your examination if the review of your examination record reveals (i) scoring inaccuracies (attributable to NVIDIA or to the Testing Delivery Partner), (ii) response patterns indicative of possible misconduct on your part, or (iii) response patterns indicative of possible Measurement Error(s). If NVIDIA determines that your examination is invalid due to scoring errors or Measurement Error(s), you will be advised of options for retaking the examination. If NVIDIA determines that your examination is invalid due to possible misconduct on your part, NVIDIA reserves the right to invalidate your examination and consider your actions in violation of this Agreement.
- NVIDIA Action for Noncompliance. You understand and agree that, if for any reason and at its sole discretion, NVIDIA believes your examination results do not accurately reflect your true knowledge or mastery of the subject matter of the examination and/or that you have violated this Agreement, NVIDIA has the right (without refund of any kind) to deny you any further participation in the examination, cancel a passed examination result, revoke any pre-existing NVIDIA Certificates, and any other rights previously conferred on you by NVIDIA, and to permanently bar you from any further participation in the Certification Program.
